This build focuses heavily on his augment and ortholysts, because of how many times ortholysts scale off strength (6 times), the following strength mods will be slotted: Umbral Intensify, Transient Fortitude, and Blind Rage.
For the Aura, Summoners Wrath is non-negotiable. This acts as a 75% faction damage increase to your summons, additive to roar.
The Exilus slot is flexible, but I’d recommend 3 options: [Power Drift], [Primed Sure Footed], or [Cunning Drift]. Which you use is purely up to preference.
For the subsume, Nourish will be used. Nourish allows your summons to apply viral with their attacks, while also multiplying the energy returned from your 1.
While duration isn’t the most important stat with his ortholysts having high base duration, we still want to make sure it’s not negative so [Primed Continuity] will be slotted.
Efficiency is a dead stat with this build, as with his 1 regenerating energy and Nourish multiplying that energy, you should never run out. [Primed Flow] will still be slotted for comfort, so that you have reserves to spare.
For range, just [Stretch] will make do, the passive from [Archon Stretch] is negligible so you can use regular [Stretch].
[Caliban]’s “[Razor Mortar]” augment will allow your 1 to group enemies that you spin by, as well as providing your ortholysts with +70% electric damage and fire rate, increasing with strength. This augment will teleport your ortholysts to your location when grouping enemies, surrounding them in a triangle, entering mortar mode and firing on them like a firing squad.
[Energy Conversion] is a flex slot, I chose this because I never felt the pressure to use [Rolling Guard] in this build. Other options would be: [Rolling Guard], [Constitution], or any mod you feel like you’d like. Note: avoid Augur mods, as they will reduce your shield gate timer and could lead to deaths.
For [Caliban]’s Arcanes I use Molt Augmented, and Arcane Camisado. If you want more comfort you could use Arcane Aegis in place of either, but I think that it’s not needed personally.
Playstyle: The playstyle is very simple, use your 1 to fill your energy, summon your ortholysts, cast nourish, and spam 1.
With this build [Caliban]’s Ortholysts can easily defeat level cap trash and thrax with no priming or stripping.
FAQ
Won’t his ortholysts be one-shot at level cap?
No, because his summons are coded as sentients, they inherit their health gating mechanic. Meaning that at 80% 65% 45% and 25% they will gain a resistance to a certain element, as well as having their health gated, requiring at least 5 instances of damage to be applies before they can die. Along this this, his ortholysts have more hidden means of surviving, the first being the constant teleportation they’ll be doing when in combination with [Caliban]’s 1, as well as the cc his 1 provides. Another thing to note is that when the ortholysts are in their mortar mode, enemies target them incorrectly, aiming above them and missing the majority of the time. For the case of thrax, from what I’ve seen they can never hit the ortholysts with melee if they’re in mortar mode.
