Nukmei aka the Sassy Puppet

I loved [Koumei]'s theme and wanted to see if there was a way to remove some of the arbitrary nature of her kit. In some ways, it feels as if on [Excalibur], you had to roll dice to see if he gets his [Exalted Blade] or a mop handle.

By far and away, [Koumei]'s 1st ability, Kumihimo, is her worst skill. It applies a single proc of elemental damage to an enemy that walks into a thread, and if they quit walking into threads, or, because the threads are at all odds and angles, sometimes enemies can walk under them and get no procs at all. I know that's going to anger her fanboys who always respond, "Well, in a hallway it works great!". If only all tile sets were halways, but I digress. After testing out several helminths in the simulacrum, I discovered [Wisp]'s Breach Suge has a unique synergy with [Koumei]'s 4th ability, Bunraku. Bunraku inflicts random status effects on enemies; the roll of her dice dictates the number of status effects. When it is cast on an enemy under the influence of Breach Surge, each tic of each status stack has a chance to cause Breach Surge to jump from enemy to enemy. This happens so rapidly that it is rather comical to watch, with the sparks popping out like popcorn.

The best part of this setup is that it scales with enemy HP. As Bunraku's status stacks cause Breach Surge to make the jump, they begin to create a vicious feedback loop where the sparks jump back and forth between enemies, inflicting more and more damage. So far, the heaviest single hit I have seen was 604 million in a Void Cascade mission at around enemy level 700. But even in the base steel path, you will see hits in the millions as a common occurrence.

For this build, you need an alternate source of energy economy. You can switch out one of the Arcanes for Arcane Energize, use Archon Shards, or a companion set up with Duplex Bond and Synth Deconstruct to drop energy and health orbs for Equilibrium to keep you topped off.

For a more budget-friendly version, you can switch out archon mods for prime or regular mods until you can get the archon mods. They do, however, make a good bit of difference as Koumie's Bunraku tossing status stacks keep them constantly engaged.

The play style is pretty simple:

  1. Cast Omamori (3rd ability) for defense. The rest of your defense is taken care of by Breach Surge's blind and Bunraku dangling everything on puppet strings.

  2. Cast Omikuji (2nd ability) so you can start getting decrees. I cancel obnoxious challenges that make you play like a donkey to accomplish them.

  3. Cast Breach Surge.

  4. Cast Bunraku.

  5. Rinse and repeat 3 and 4, recast 3rd as it gets down to 5 stacks, so you can stay relatively safe, recast 2 when it comes back available.

Duration is intentionally low on the build so you can spam 1 and 4, ensuring that enemies keep getting hit with Bunraku's status stacks. If not, you have to wait for it to cool down on casting and are stuck with whatever the dice gave you for the duration. Making it spamable removes a portion of the randomness.

Archon Shards: User preference. Personally, I use two casting speed, one energy max, and two ability strength. I highly recommend casting speed as Bunraku casting without them moves at the speed of frozen snail doo doo.
