Possible Progenitor Bonuses
- Magnetic is the best general-use progenitor due to its status effect providing extra damage against shields and Overguard.
- Electricity is another AoE status effect that can add to the Coda Sporothrix's damage profile, but is not necessary to kill enemies.
- Heat is useful because it allows a single mod to create Blast or Gas. However, the extra mod space generally does not outweigh the opportunity cost of choosing a different progenitor unless the weapon is built around heat.
Potential Flex Mods
- [Hammer Shot] can be useful if sources of flat critical chance can be obtained, allowing the Coda Sporothrix to crit consistently.
- [Primed Firestorm] does increase the explosion radius, but Volatile Variant already adds +4 to the radius, so Firestorm is a little redundant.
- Primed Shred is only useful because of its punch through. (In fact due to [Semi-Rifle Cannonade], the extra fire rate is completely useless on this build.) Because the explosive barbs do not expire when they hit an enemy, punch through allows each shot to proc multiple explosions. Metal Auger is a perfectly fine replacement.
- [Target Acquired] is a little redundant because [Coda Sporothrix] already has headshot multiplier bonuses when scoped in, but this multiplier is less diluted than something like base damage bonuses (the category of mods [Serration] falls into).
Blast vs. Gas
In order for Blast to have more value than Gas, the weapon must be able to either kill the enemy or apply maximum Blast stacks (10) in 1.5 seconds. If the Blast proc expires normally, it actually has the exact same damage formula as the Gas status effect, but without the AoE, making it strictly worse. While the Coda Sporothrix struggles to apply max stacks in time despite its high base status chance, it is capable of one-shotting enemies. Because the Blast proc can be forcibly expired, the resulting explosion will deal 10x a single tick of Gas. On the [Coda Sporothrix] specifically, there isn't a huge difference between the two.
